HEAR purchased nearly 80,000 pounds of frozen chicken thighs and wings which were distributed to families in need in Chicago and Detroit the week before Thanksgiving 2009. In Chicago, HEAR worked with the Greater Chicago Food Depository, the Chicago Christian Industrial League, and Alderwoman JoAnn Thompson of the 16th ward in West Englewood to identify families in need and to distribute the food. In Metro Detroit, HEAR collaborated with Northville Civic Concern to identify 21 recipient organizations (all of which are food pantries, soup kitchens, or organizations that support families that are homeless) which gifted the chicken to families. Over 7,600 families were reached!

Health, Education & Relief (HEAR) Foundation invests in small, well-designed projects and programs that bring about permanent change in individual’s lives, in communities and in environments. HEAR awards grants and provides direct services in the areas of health, education and relief.

Values

Cost Efficiency

100% of each donation is directed towards the projects and programs we support or provide. We are committed to ensuring that every donation to HEAR is a sound investment in change.

Accountability

HEAR will deliver on our commitment to people in need, and in turn we will maintain loyalty to our donors.

Transparency

We believe we have an obligation to be open and honest to our supporters and to those we serve.

Result Driven

We choose projects and programs whose end results evidence clear improvement and demonstrate impact.

Defined Goals

We believe that in order for an effort to be successful it must have goals that are clearly defined and measurable.

Respect

We are dedicated to valuing the people, communities, and environments that we serve, and our supporters. HEAR celebrates diversity and promotes the dignity of all people. Through our work we strive to demonstrate that we are members of one community.

Self-Sufficiency

The goal of our projects and programs is to empower those in need so that they may gain independence.
